Technical Process Training
Brief
A internal client and SME wanted a alternative solution to streamline the in-person technical training; cinema projector xenon change. The small technical team were over stretched with other responsibilities and found it hard to keep up with the demand for training in this area.
The technical intensity of the subject matter was hard for some learners to grasp with-in the allotted in-person sessions. The brief was two-fold, the client wanted to reduce time constraints on his trainers and the pressure on them to deliver, but also allow more time for learners to grasp and pick up the key eliments of the subject area.
The Challenge
A solution to split the in-person training into two days was an option but this would not relieve the pressure on the technical team who where responsible for delivering it. An alternative was to introduce pre-learning by digital methods.
A module that could be completed in advance introducing the technical aspects to the learner allowing them to go over it multiple times if they wish. This would result in a reduction in in-person training and pressure on the technical team.
Audience
Th audience was middle management who were new to the business or established employees who were just learning the audio visual area and would typically have no or little prior knowledge of the subject area.
Solution
An eLearning module used as pre-learning was chosen and completed by learners seven days before their in-person training. The module contained a knowledge check and leaners could complete the module multiple times if the chose to.
Upon implementation the technical team reduced their in-person training and still saw a significant increase in learners passing the end point assessment first time.
